What's new in 9.36

Version 9.36 brings flexible setlist items, a right-to-left layout and more control over MIDI on song appear. Earlier highlights: What's new in 9.35. Everything else: Release Notes.

Slides and Dividers in setlists

Setlist items are now Songs, Dividers and Slides. What used to be an Event is now a Slide, and the former Section label is a left-aligned divider. Dividers can be left-aligned or centered. See Setlists.

On iPad the sidebar can be Floating or Fixed separately for portrait and landscape. On iPhone there is a single Style setting. Find it in Main menu → Appearance → Sidebar. See Themes.

Right-to-left

Turn on Right-to-left in Main menu → Settings for lyrics written in Arabic, Hebrew and other right-to-left scripts. Song viewer settings also have a Right-to-left option. See App Settings.

MIDI on Song Appear

  • Send key and scale – when a song appears JustChords can send its key and scale as Control Change messages (CC 30 = key, CC 31 = scale).
  • MIDI chords sent by Chord Beats Sync ignore the capo, so external instruments receive the concert chords.
  • The first chord's note-offs are sent when a song loads (standalone and AUv3).
  • Section-break MIDI: the select / before message goes to the first part and the deselect message to the last part.
  • Deselect anticipation is shown in beats in Structure & MIDI.

Pedal and gestures

  • New action Autoscroll | Start, Scroll Down: the first press starts autoscroll, further presses scroll down (see Bluetooth Pedal).
  • Pinch-to-zoom zooms around the centre of your fingers instead of the top-left corner.
  • The selected song section stays selected after transposing.

More

  • Piano chord diagrams follow the chord diagram zoom.
  • Chord Beats: the width of a beat adapts to the longest chord in the song.
  • Autobackup: a new < 7 days group in the restore list; bulk deleting files in Storage asks for confirmation (see Storage and Backup).
  • The add-song menu moved to the + button in the navigation bar.
  • Importing a song with the same name as an existing one now shows an alert (Skip / Add again).
  • iPhone Duo and iOS / macOS 27 external-display improvements.
